Drunken, Foolish, and Witless Women

On Nov. 14 I'll be teaching a class at Autumn's Inspirations up in Malagentia. It's a super fun class, which I have given the fashionable academic title of "'Drunken, Foolish or Witless Women': Proper and Improper Dress for Ladies in the 14th Century."

Come learn how to give the impression you want: impress God with your proper appearance, or lure some poor unsuspecting knight with your racy apparel.

Pennsic A&S point

Here is another view of the 2014 hood as well as the dyed hosen I entered into Kingdom A&S in 2015. These were my entries into the Pennsic A&S War Point in 2015 where I was one of 7 Eastern champions.

The hosen are wool dyed with cochineal and hand sewn with silk thread dyed with cochineal.

Dyed hoods (2014)

For our Kingdom A&S Championship in 2014, I made two hoods, naturally dyed and embellished with bezants that I stamped.

One is hand sewn wool dyed with madder and lined in rabbit fur (the MOST FUN THING to handsew ugh), the other is hand sewn wool dyed with alkanet lined with silk dyed with alkanet.

Documentation (including dye recipes) is here

The Gothic Ensemble

I taught this class, "The Gothic Ensemble," at Pennsic 40 and 41. I also give it to everyone I do a Gothic Fitted Dress fitting on, and anyone else who will take it. ("Excuse me, do you have a moment to talk about the 14th century?")

It's essentially an "I have my pattern, now what?" guide for ladies approx. 1350-1420.
